Manners. Where did they go?!

This is something that I am so sick of. Every day I catch the tram to work, and sometimes home as well.

Tell me, how hard is it to use common courtesy and get up, and offer your seat to someone?

This morning I was on the tram, in one of the normal seats, when an elderly lady and man got on. I am talking old and frail, I would estimate 75+. As they got on, the people in the Disabled section seats did not get up, and nobody else did.

I quickly jumped out of my seat and offered them my seat, but the man next to me did not do the same, meaning only one of them could take the seat.

They bothrefused the seat, informing me that they were only going one stop and that itwould be easier for them to stand near the door way. I protested for a whilebut they were not going to give in so I sat back down. When I sat back down, I couldn’thelp but shoot dagger eyes at everyone around me looking on. The man and ladyboth seemed so chuffed that someone would offer them their seat, and told mehow sweet I was. Really though, was I being sweet? No. I was just doing theright thing. Having common courtesy and manners should not be looked upon as somethingout of the ordinary in my opinion. I was talking to my Mum on the phone when ithappened and she said she just doesn’t understand where manners have gone.

Surely allthese people were raised with manners?!

I justcannot believe that so many people would look at them and turn back to staringout the windows or looking at their iPhone. Now, I don’t know if the people whowere in the disabled assigned seats were in fact disabled as they looked veryable bodied, but that really means nothing. It is the rest of the tram thatconcerns me.

How oftendo we have to see an elderly person, a pregnant lady, a lady holding a baby orsomeone injured or disabled get on public transport and have no seat. I am sosick of it.

Well,Happy Valentines Day!

Iknow that some people think that Valentines day is stupid, and that it’s justan event created by Hallmark and the Florists of the world to have people spendmore money in a bid to show their loved ones that they are indeed, their lovedones.

Ilove it though. The Husband is the type to randomly bring me home flowers andpresents so its not like it’s the only day of the year that this happens forme, but I still love it.

Ilove seeing all the loved up couples in the city, the giddy school girlscarrying home roses and presents from their young loves…

Everyyear since The Husband and I have been together, I have received a dozen longstemmed red roses on Valentines Day from him but when it got to 2pm and nothinghad arrived I started to think that now since we are married, the flowers willstop coming.

Shortlyafter the thought flickered across my mind, the elevator went Ding and theflorist walked out with roses, which obviously I was hoping were for me.Luckily, they were!!

Itis completely inconvenient to carry flowers on the tram though so The Husbandhad to stop by on his way home and collect them from me.

Imust admit, my favourite part of receiving any gift is actually the card thatgoes alone with it. I never throw out my cards!

Toget in the spirit of Valentines Day I painted my nails with OPI StrawberryMargarita and OPI Teenage Dream on the pinky nails. Perhaps I should havepainted them red, but oh well.

Itook this photo whilst on the tram, drenched in sunlight, and my iPhone was noton silent so the camera shutter sounded when I took the photo and the girl nextto me just looked at me. I hate it when it is not on silent!! Always feel likesomeone will think I am taking up skirt pics!

I ventured away from mystandard gift of nothing or underwear (which is the perfect present to get aguy since they never seem to want to update their own lousy collection despitethe prompts from the elastic giving away..) and went to JB HiFi and got himSeason 2 of Sons of Anarchy and a Mötley Crüe DVD. Westarted watching Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy on the weekend and finished it inno time at all so Season 2 was screaming my name.

Has anyone else becomeobsessed with Sons of Anarchy? Please, no spoilers as I am only up to Season2!!

Ihave been on a dog crusade for the past 3 years, and The Husband is not evenclose to letting me get one. After I sent him a photo of Boo today he said thatmy emails of dogs are getting annoying and having an adverse effect on him,which is not what I wanted at all.

Today I dragged out my Wheels & Dollbaby dress which I have only worn once before (oh look, here is a blog post I did on it when I first wore it) and forget all about the issue of the buttons popping open on the bust. Well, when there are no safety pins to be had, one has to improvise.

Enter the Stapler.

This is such a weird outfit, sometimes I think I get dressed in the dark when I wake up a little and look down at my terrible outfit.

Seem the stapler works a charm. This dress is going in my "I'm never wearing this again" drawer.

Blagh.

I've started doing kick boxing twice a week. It is hard. I used to think the gym classes at the gym like Pump & Attack were hard, no, they are definitely not.

They are like a walk in a very, very pleasant park compared to this.

I am going to step out of my La La Land bubble for a minute, and write about something that is dead serious. It doesn't get any more serious than this. People might find this information distressing, but I think it is important that you read it.

My friend Claire is currently in India working for an organization that is working to put a stop to sex trafficking. She is currently working on a campaign that is aimed at criminalizing the demand side of the industry. Part of the campaign is to get a minimum of 10,000 signatures on an online petition.

They are not asking for money. All they are asking is that you sign this online petition and it only takes about 25 seconds, depending on how slowly you type. At the moment they are over halfway to their goal.

Claire and I went to the same primary school, but our friendship didn't kick of until grade 4 or so and from then we were inseparable. It was actually Claire's dad Barry, who first started calling me Mez. We were so close, and Claire's brother was even the very first boy I ever kissed.

Now imagine if Claire and I grew up in India. I don't think our childhood would have been quite the same at all.

I don't think I would have the memory of my first kiss being when I was 11 or whatever, under the flashing strobe lights at a Skateworld disco. Instead it would probably be a memory of having to have sex with about 10 males per day, against my will, from an age younger than 11.

Some information from Claire:

When at the Vic Market last weekend, I sat down on a bench and waited for El Husband to go and do all of the vegetable/fruit shopping because I was feeling lazy and generally not in the mood for haggling with people over the price of grapes, and I certainly did not want to be carrying the stuff, when I spied these green spiky flower things.

What are they called?!

My Wedding Speech

Last night I stumbled across my wedding speech saved on my computer and enjoyed reading it back so much that I thought I would share some of it with you. I'll leave out the boring 'Thank You' bits and what not as they are probably the same as all Wedding Speech Thank You parts, and I obviously didn't call him 'The Husband' during the speech.

Apologies to everyone who was at our wedding and heard this speech first hand, you can just ignore this post!

I was really quite nervous before making the speech and opted to stand next to The Husband behind the bridal table, rather than behind the lectern. I found that once I started my speech with "I am really nervous, so please bare with me", the nerves started to drip away. I am all for both the bride and groom doing a speech at a wedding. I don't care that it is not 'traditional' for a bride to speak, why shouldn't she?!

"The date that it all beganwas Friday the 13^th of July 2007. Some may say that Friday 13^this bad luck but I clearly disagree. Thenight that we met, I was working and The Husband was with Zok, his best mantoday, at The Long room.

The Husband, being thegentleman that he is, not without ulterior motives of course, offered to helpme out and fill in a survey that I had been roped in to doing. Once he filledit out, he told me to make sure that I kept it for myself, rather thansubmitting it to the boss. He asked if he could call me and then I did not hearfrom him for nearly 3 weeks.

*Insert 'Real Smooth' cat calls from the guests here*

Whenever we would arrange to go on a date,something would come up and I would have to cancel. I don’t know what causedhim to continue to bother to try and see me, but I am glad he did. I wasrunning an hour and a half late for our first date, certain that he would notwait for me, but he did and took me to Crown Casino to get me drunk, knowingthat I was still on P Plates, could not drink and drive, and would not be ableto escape easily.

*The Husband cannot believe I put this in the speech, he thinks it makes him look terrible!!!*

After our first argument, TheHusband turned up unannounced at my house to talk things through. He told me he had a gift for me, and beingthe girl that I am – I expected flowers, chocolate or, jewelry if he was reallysorry. Instead, he pulled out this…… Amagic 8 ball.

I thought to myself, what am I going to do with this? It does nothing for me!!

He told me to ask it anything. I asked it the one important, albeit premature question, ‘would we getmarried?’ and the answer was “No”.

It didn’t offer me muchclarity, but I am glad we proved it wrong and I should probably stop looking toit for guidance from now on as it is rarely accurate.

*Throws Magic 8 Ball*

The morning that The Husbandproposed to me, we had just finished eating a big breakfast and I was lying onthe bed rubbing my full stomach and complaining that I was a fat cow, and insteadof saying anything to me, such as "No, you look great!!", He came and got down on one knee, and asked me tomarry him.

It took a good 5 minutes to believe that he was serious, and after Imade him get back down on one knee and propose all over again, I said yes asquickly as I could. The fact that I was complaining about being fat proves thatlove is either blind, or has selective hearing.

Up until today, the day that heproposed was the happiest day of my life.

We have been planning thiswedding since January 2010, for 600 days exactly.

I didn’t think that I wantedthe big white wedding, and whilst in Las Vegas last December I went as far as buying a whitedress and trying to convince him to get married in a chapel by Elvis. Herefused to do it, but after receiving the bill for the wedding, I am sure he isregretting that choice.

As we did not read vows aspart of our ceremony, I would like to promise some to you now, in front of allthe people who love us:-

Lady in a Red Dress

In this post you are going to learn why exactly I usually take my outfit photos in the mirror, on my iPhone.

Before I jump to that conclusion, this is the other dress that I got from my mum for my birthday. She messaged me a picture of it as soon as it came into my aunties store, French Pony, and said she thought it would be perfect for me. She wasn't wrong!!! Love it, thanks Caro!!

The Husband and I went for a stroll last night to the nearby gardens to take some photos of said red dress and whilst we were taking photos a nearby homeless man was heckling us!!!

The Husband would say "1,2, 3" and then the homeless dude would holler out "ONEEEE, TWO, THREEEEEEE!!!!!" hahaha. No wonder I look so damn awkward in the photos.

Another couple were sitting near by but as soon as he started heckling they were quick to do the Melbourne Shuffle and get out of there.

Perfect work dress! Do you think it is possible to get Knee surgery? I am not even a giant. I am 159cm!!! The Husband was 4 steps below me, making me look like Shreks wife. Thanks.

I don't know how bloggers take their photos in public. I can't do it, too many people side eye me.

This is the reason why all my photos are usually crap iPhone pics on the mirror or on our balcony. Imagine when we move house and I have a whole house to take outfit photos in, ohhh yeah. Look out.

I am planning that space already!!

Now, is your handbag suffering from a saggy bottom (My real life human bottom is getting saggy, that much I can promise you!), if so, you need to check out chloepuppy21 on eBay. I got sick of carrying a magazine in my Speedy preeeetty damn quickly so did a quick google search and found out that you can buy acrylic base shapers!

If you, or a male friend are quite handy with stuff like this, I am sure you could easily do a DIY version with measurements from your bag, but I opted to just buy one on eBay for $21.75.

My problems have been solved!!

Got sag? I might add that my bag was actually empty except for my phone in this photo, so that is not prime sagging.

Yep. That is me inserting the liner. Homeless dude is still swigging his beer and heckling me, fear not.

Taaaa Daaaaa! My bag is perfectly shaped! If I was going somewhere really casual I would probably take the liner out and let it have a bit of sag to make it more casual, if you get what I mean.

The Husband fancies himself as quite a photographer, as evident from these photos. He kept saying "Okay, step back, step to the left, raise your chin" etc etc.

I wore different shoes to work, my Basque shoes, but left them in the car so wore the Peep toe Soho Heels for the photos.

The Husband thought I should just get MK but I went for all three initials in the smallest sized font on one tag only.

I'm quite a fan of the ol' hot stamp. Someone said to me "What if you want to sell it?" but I would never sell a gift that was given to me!! Especially not a LV Speedy!!

I finally got my iPhone screen repaired. I know, 3 months later.

I actually think that my eyesight was deteriorating from looking at the cracks all day. Killer.

The Husband and I trekked (and by trekked I mean we drove, with The Husband in the back-seat because our passenger door won't unlock, and me being his chauffeur in the front) to the Vic Market on Sunday despite the gale force winds as we are fasting this week so we needed to stock up on seafood.

We walked past a phone stall advertising that they would repair iPhone screens so I thought 'what the heck' and got it fixed for $100.

I also got this super cute happymori iPhone case. Love it,

The front has little heart pictures on it too.

I feel like I have a brand new phone, who would have thought that the screen could make me hate it so much?!

Tattoo Dress

Saturday Night was spent celebrating Geefa's 30th anniversary working with his boss.

I had my hair trimmed and blow dried at Miss Fox and was running a tad behind schedule when getting ready so The Husband made me leave without re-doing my make up. I just went along with the bare minimum face of make up that I had applied during the morning. Grrrrr.

I wore this Damask Tattoo Dress by Pink Stitch which I got from

French Pony that day from my mum as one of my birthday presents!

It is different to anything I own and I love it! It is nice to step outside the box every now and then.

The dress has gold fringing at the bottom which was particularly helpful when I was dancing.

The house that we were celebrating at is truly amazing, with it's own jetty on to the Yarra river and ginormous backyard which as like something from The Secret Garden, and I thought that I would share with you some of the many floral arrangements that were placed in every spot you could see!

Lisa Edwards was the singer with the band and I have an amazing video of Nikki who got pulled on stage (Lisa is her idol), absolutely blowing us away. I'll see if she will let me post it!

At thefuneral for Etta James, who sadly passed away on January 20, Christina Aguilera was spotted wiping her legs with herjacket sleeve. I thought this was reserved for people like myself, who usetheir sleeves as a hankie. I joke, I joke…

Anyway, itturns out that it was either one of three things:

1. Under the bright lights Christina was sweating which in turnmade her fake tan streak down her leg.

Ahh, how many times have I thought thatthis would happen to me when wearing fake tan?!

2. Christina got her period and it ran down her leg.

3. She wet herself.

I am going to go with option 1 as I cannot stand to imagine the other two.

I remember getting my period on my school dress when I was younger and that was horrific enough.

Christina's performance of At Last was amazing. Just watching it on YouTube gave me goosebumps and sent shivers up my spine. She has such an amazing voice and at such an occasion, I am sure that it would have been duly appreciated.

What is everyone up to this weekend? I'm having a hair cut and then going to a party which is being thrown in honour of the big fella, Geefa.

Ilove it!!

Ithas so many colours in it that it was hard to pin point one. I feel like I seegold, bronze, red, pewter and silver.

Whilstit is not quite a glitter, it is more of a shimmer, it still glitters likecrazy. The thing I like about glitters is that it is far harder to see my poorapplication skills!

Asusual, I was delaying doing the dishes (gosh we need a dishwasher) and saidthat I would do them after I painted my nails, planning on using the excusethat they are still wet and smudge-able to get out of it for another night whenI noticed the steam blowing out of The Husbands ears at my “I’ll do them later”so I dragged my sorry self from the couch and did the dishes and not a problemdespite me only painting them 10 minutes earlier. The Red Belt

I love a skinny belt. I also love looking like a walking Essendon mascot.

Our office has been fluctuating between 'bone chilling freezing' and 'leave a sweat mark on the chair boiling' as of late so I never know what to wear as who knows what the temperature will be, but now I am getting smarter and layering.

I'm wearing a Caroline Morgan dress under a Revive Cardigan here. The little collar on the cardigan is actually part of the dress.

I feel a little bit like Minnie Mouse. Come at me Mickey.

I do wish that the dress was about 5cm longer though.

The red belt has been getting a lot of action this past week, as you can see it was also worn with my Target dress.

Who else is doing Frugal February?

I think I shall wear the red belt tomorrow as well.

OPI Russian Navy & Rainbow Connection

The Rainbow Connection made a come back last week, but this time it was over OPI Russian Navy.

On it's own, I just cannot bring myself to love Russian Navy. I just can't deal with it.

Hello gross cuticle. Sorry for the close up.

Rainbow Connection is far easier to remove when over another polish, thank the Lord for that.

Please feel free to picture a large Gospel singer who is energetically singing 'Thank the Lord' whenever you read me saying that.

OPI Russian Navy on it's own, it is definitely glossy but I think I am just not made for the dark polishes.

The Husband said to me "I feel like you are painting your nails every night." In reality, I do it maybe twice per week, but perhaps this is a sign that life with me goes very very slowly. Ha.

The Dog Shake Hair Method

Sick of spending ages in the bathroom drying your hair into a soft, sleek and bouncy style with a hair dryer? Me too.

Let me set the scene for you.

Last night, The Husband is in another room and I am bored, sitting on the couch with wet hair when I decide to do it like the dogs do, and dry my hair by shaking like a mad man. This ends up with my on the floor in hysterical laughter, resulting in The Husband running out, looking at me, shaking his head and walking away.

Then, when I try and do it in front of the mirror to see what it looks like, I am moving too fast and cannot see so he tapes it on my iPhone. This recording was high-larious but not very family friendly since I had a wardrobe malfunction, so we decided to re-shoot.

The inaudible talking is actually me saying "There is drool flying out of my mouth like a dog". Real nice huh?

Good times had by all.

I kid you not though, my hair was dry by the end of this 5 minutes and not only that, but bloody hell did I have a bad headache for the rest of the night. I'm sure The Husband sees me in these states and wonders what he was thinking when he married me, sucker!!

It has only taken my my entire life, but I have finally discovered the nail polish that Glinda the Good Witch would wear if she could.

It is:

2 layers of OPI Bubble Bath

1 layer of OPI Princesses Rule

and 2 layers of OPI Teenage Dream

That's right Glinda, I have the magic formula right here, waiting for you in all of your puffy dress glory.

I already had Bubble Bath but bought Princesses Rule & Teenage Dream on Friday at David Jones, along with Meep-Meep-Meep and Designer... De Better!

I have hadquite a few request for more home decoration posts, but it’s a tad hard becauseour apartment is so small so we don’t really decorate it. All of our furniture isvery basic, but we are buying things and storing them for our future house.

Speaking offuture house, our search is proving to be harder than we thought. It is hard toagree on something and we haven’t seen anything that we both Love so it will bea long and painful hunt. At least we don’t actually need to move, but when Ieventually fall pregnant I am sure that we will be buying something quicksmart.

As I said,we buy a lot of things and then they go into storage. All of our wedding giftsare also in storage, which kills me, but I know that when we move and unpackeverything, it will be nice to have all new and special stuff.

Sometimes a spot of colour is all a room needs to freshen it up, just hope that people don't get too close and realise your flowers are fake!

Storage is a massive issue in our apartment, as in majority of apartments I would imagine.

I have the wardrobe in our room and The Husband has the wardrobe in the spare room but as he has so many shirts, most of his stuff ends up hanging on our Steamer rack which is this little foldable thing that collapses if you walk any where near it, very annoying.

I picked up this 2 level clothes rack at Big W on Sunday for $28 and it was really easy to assemble, probably took 10 minutes. I do all the building and assembling in our marriage.

WhatI didn’t anticipate was that only a quarter of his shirts would fit on therack. We need more, that is for sure.

Atthe moment his 1,465,598 suits hang in the wardrobe and his casual clothes arefolded (or thrown wherever). At this rate, the shirts will go straight from thewash on to the rack and then when he has ironed his 5 for the week they will gointo the wardrobe as they will get creased back on the rack.

Ihad lots of comments on instagram and twitter about who ironed his shirts. I amnot allowed any where near our iron, forget his shirts. He is a totalperfectionist and irons them with skill.

Hereis some more new in box house stuff that is stacked up in our apartment. It is killing meto look at it so will be moving it to Geelongfor storage soon.

I’malso thinking of getting rid of the double bed, the bed side table and the deskfrom the spare room and replacing with a single day bed for when people need tostay over, which is not often. That will leave my turtle tank, a book shelf andclothes racks in there and there will be so much more room. It’s terrible atthe moment. Might as well just call it the Junk Room.

On Australia Day we went to Rebel Sport and saw a Punching Bag that came on it's own big metal stand and hook thing and The Husband said we should have one in the spare room. Surely that is why he goes to a MMA gym? So we don't need a punching bag in the spare room. Oh well, if he wants one, I'm happy for one.

So, whoelse lives in an apartment with no storage options? We don’t even have a linencloset so that stuff lives in fabric storage boxes in my wardrobe, where thespace could be far better utilized I tell you!!

Not bad for $39.95 huh? I am sure it is a rip off of something else, but I am too unfashionable to know what, or to care really.

I also got this door hanger thing which houses my bags. I am not a big bag person, so for me, owning 5 is HEAPS!!!

Here are some new shoes from Basque that I got to wear to work, please note that they are not wedges because you know, wearing wedges to work is guaranteed to create controversy and have someone you work with complain about you because, you are wearing wedges.

Who would have thought that wedges were oh so unprofessional??

Okay I had better stop before I go into a full blown wedges related rant.

I already wrote a massive paragraph ranting and raving but thought better of it.

At least I will have another profession to fall back on, Pizza Delivery.

I don't normally go into this stuff, but in the interest of full disclosure and the fact that I have no other news for you here we go.

I had an unusual experience on Monday night. We ordered pizza (Exhibit A below), ate said pizza and then an hour later I went to the gym, worked out (or pretended to at least) and then I went home. Within 10 minutes of me being home, I was on the bed in tears and my stomach had puffed up to looking about 6 months pregnant (Exhibit B below). I was suffering from excruciating pains around my belly button and they were travelling, fast. I could not sit up or move my legs without bellowing in pain. It was a pain like being electrocuted over and over again. Not like wind, cramps or food poisoning.

Needless to say, The Husband was freaking the hell out. He wanted to call an ambulance but I would not let him, so he rang Nurse on Call and they said that if the pain didn't go away, to get to the ER quick.

This pain, paired with the fact that I had not had a period for months, freaked me out. I had a blood test for pregnancy 2 weeks before and it was negative, so I knew it wasn't that but still, odd.

I ended up having an ultrasound and internal exam and am waiting to hear back from my doctor. The swelling is all gone, and oddly enough, my period came 2 days after. I wonder if it was all related?

Anyway, sorry to gross you all out but hey, this is a lifestyle blog after all.

Check out my belly. Ha. I have no pants on. Coming from someone who normally has a very flat tummy, this was strange, and this photo was taken after the pain wore off so probably not at it's peak bloatedness.

The Husband thinks it was the pizza, but please. I eat pizza all day long.

Alrighty then, lets hop to it.

1. When I was younger I had Meningococcal Meningitis which was lodged behind my eye. I know, I'm lucky to live to blog about it. So that was not a fun fact but interesting never the less.

2. I have a very faint scar near my arm pit that occurred when I was about 6 and was standing on a chair, with a pool cue under my arm. I fell off the chair and the pool cue snapped in half, giving me a massive gash around my rib cage. Funny how the scar has travelled!!

3. I love to read. I will spend hours reading and ignoring The Husband. I often have 3+ books on the go and swap between them, but always finish them. I hate to not finish a book.

4. At one stage, I went to day care at a Bowling Alley. Mum was in a team, and she had a special bowling ball that was an awesome emerald green colour. I frigging hated that day care. Hated it. I also went to another day care but that did not last long. I finally switched to Walkers Road Pre School in Mount Eliza, and that was the best!! I wonder if pre schools do reunions?

5. When I was younger apparently I would not eat. I don't remember this, but even to this day Geefa always says "Have you eaten enough Maryanne?" after dinner. Completely annoying and uncalled for.

They said I would need to go to hospital if I didn't eat and my mum would sneak egg yolk into my banana smoothies.

6. I'm a total push over. If my friends need something done, they know that I will do it for them even if I am busy or don't what to do it. People take advantage of this.

7. I eat Vegemite on toast, every day.

8. I am a total slob. I'll let dishes sit in the sink for days, leave clothes on the floor etc. This drives The Husband INSANE and usually takes him yelling at me for me to actually do something. My mum recently asked me if I needed help looking after our apartment she was so disgusted in me.

9. If someone yells at me, I will cry. No doubt about it. Even if I have done nothing wrong.

10. I always get ingrown toenails. No matter how many times the podiatrist cuts them out, they come back. I don't know if I cut them wrong or if it is the shoes that I wear, but bloody hell they are annoying. I don't get them too bad but I did once and I couldn't even put the doona on my toes without crying. That was the worst pain I have EVER experienced.

11. I am so scared to be home alone. Terrified. The Husband is going away for 30 days soon and I don't know how I am going to cope?!

Now. These are who I choose to also do this. Suckers. This takes for ever!!!

Last week I was luckily enough to be the winner of a give away that was held on The Sea and Me Change and the prize was a $40 Frockaholics voucher.

Coupled with an extra 10% off voucher, I managed to snare the last pair of the gorgeous Peter Lang Large Crystal Star-Look Drop Earrings which were originally $109 and then reduced to $77, so with the voucher and discount code I paid $29. Very happy with that steal!!

I placed my order Friday 20 and received the package before 9:30am on Monday 23 so am very impressed!

This dress is from Luxx (the basement shops on Swanston St) and cost me $17.50. At that price, I also got it in orange - see below. You wouldn't believe it, or maybe you would, but I just typed 'Organge' and wondered why the spell check said it was incorrect. What is wrong with me?

I wore it with my J Crew necklace which I have to hold when gallivanting around the office as it jangles so loudly.

This was on Christmas Eve, Eve before I realised how terrible the bow looked at the front and turned it around. I promise you, this dress has paid for itself 10x over. I have never worn a dress as frequently as I wear this. It must get worn once or twice per week. I LOVE IT. I want it in every colour. I wish it came in black at least.

It was my birthday yesterday!!

I'm the ripe ol' age of 23.

Geefa managed to work it out by saying 'so it is 2012 and you were born in 1989 so you must be 23'. Yes.

At the stroke of midnight on Friday I was looking at The Husband clearing my throat and looking pointedly at the time. He let me suffer for 2 minutes before I got a "Happy Birthday Wifey".

On Friday I went to a BBQ with friends from work, and they had this ice cream cake with a singing candle for me! So cute, not to mention delicious!! I have not had a birthday cake for a very long time, so loved it!!

I woke up on Saturday early as The Husband was getting ready to go to the Australian Open and I wanted my present dammit.

After him teasing me for a few minutes saying that I would be getting no presents, he made me turn around and close my eyes. He then came into the room and when I turned around he was holding this..

The squealing did indeed commence, you can be sure of that.

"Yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee you got me the bag?!?!?!?!"

"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!!"

All this before I even opened the bag.

I had mentioned 2 days earlier that I wanted a Louis Vuitton Speedy and he just kind of rolled his eyes and ignored me, like usual when I put things on my 'Wish list'.

Well, looks like someone couldn't think of any other present to get me so I got very, very lucky!!!!

As you can tell by the photos, I was still in bed at this stage. Waiting for my breakfast in bed, that never came.

I am so in love with my Speedy 30 Damier Azur! It is perfect and exactly what I wanted.

The Husband said that when he went into the Collins Street store that this is how the conversation went:

Sales Assistant: Can I help you?

The Husband: I need to buy a Speedy 30.

SA: Are you sure?

TH: Yep, that's what I have been told. I don't know what it is, but I need one by tomorrow.

SA: Who is it for?

TH: My wife, it's her birthday tomorrow.

SA: Well, at least she told you what to get! Most guys have no clue.

Anyway, they were trying to figure out which colour/monogram I wanted and he some how got me the right one so I am very impressed.

There was no time to have my initials hot stamped so I will take it back this week to get them. I don't know what colour though but am leaning towards either no colour or gold. Thoughts?

I went in to the Louis Vuitton store yesterday with the intention of buying some bag charms, as I love being charmtastic, but they didn't have any that I liked that much so will need to keep going back, or check some out online I guess!

I also treated my self to some Birthday Schnitz.

I go there so often that when I walk they just start making my wrap, they know exactly how I like it!

I just love Schnitz beyond words. The chips are to die for.

I also bought a few pairs of shoes, which I will take photos of in the next few days, but this was one pair.

After my shopping expedition, I went to Miss Fox for some Birthday Pampering.

I know that I get my hair and make up done more than once a year, but I stand by my thoughts that if you never get it done, that one day should definitely be on your birthday!

Everyone deserves to feel like they look a million dollars on their birthday!!

I didn't know what I wanted to have done, so I told Luna to do whatever, but make sure I look hot!

She definitely pulled through with the goods.

I love my hair like this! I didn't think that you could have that many styles with short hair, but hey, I was proved wrong like normal.

I loved my make up sick, I never have winged eyeliner but it was awesome!

I also bought some Jane Iredale bronzer which I can't wait to try out.

P.S - Mez from Blithely Unaware told me the trick of putting a magazine or cardboard etc in the bottom of the Speedy to give it the proper shape. Mine still has creases from the box ha.

The Husband had strictly said "No Shots" as he knows what a mess I am after a few shots, but he was happy to fill up a water bottle for me of straight Grey Goose Vodka and put it in my hand bag. Really!!?

Yeah, we keep it old school and on the cheap by smuggling in illicit moonshine. That's how we roll.

Unfortunately, we ended up leaving the bottle in the car but that is definitely a good thing as I really would have been OTF had I have had some.

For dinner, I went with my nearest and dearest girlfriends to Terra Rossa.

Despite making a reservation 2 weeks back, when I rang to confirm 2 hours before the booking was due to take place they told me they had no record of me ever booking. After speaking to a manager and basically being told that I never made a booking, they told me they were fully booked and could not fit us in. I was pissed to say the least. They rang back 10 minutes later and said I could have my booking half an hour later than expected. When we got there, the table was set for 11, not 8 and the service is so slow and you need to ask for drinks 3 times.

ETA - I just received a phone call from Terra Rossa confirming my booking for Monday 23 January. Seriously?!?!

Why am I so brown?!?! I don;t have any fake tan on and haven't been in the sun for weeks.

After a great dinner which was obviously filled with cocktails, tapas and gossip, we all jumped in Kittys car and I ran up to my apartment to swap my bag for my clutch but whilst I was up there I got distracted by champagne and came back to the car without a bag, without a clutch, but with 2 bottles of champagne and a plastic sundae cup. All class, I know.

Whatever the champagne was that is in the sundae cup was gross. As Vanessa described it "this tastes like ass".

My champagne was much better, Moet with a straw!

We ended up parking, drinking and jamming to old school RnB, much to Kitty's shuddering at being the sober one, I am sure!!

After we had suitably executed enough drinking, singing and heckling of pedestrians we headed to YoYo and got our groove on.

We were given this champagne and it just so happened to be the same champagne that the girls had dry reached about in the car.

After a few hours of dominating the podiums (and for once, not falling off) I put Cristina in a cab, giving the cabby her address in written form and warning him that I took a photo of his number plate, I sent her on her way.

It was only when I woke up that I realized she never messaged me to tell me she got home so I rang her and a stranger answered, saying she had found the phone in a cab and we could go and pick it up from her. I respect the honesty. Lots of people would just turf the sim card and keep the phone for themselves.

About halfa after I put her in the cab, I left Celeste & Vanessa and stumbled home. The Husband was shocked to see me (hear me, more like it as I crashed into the front door) home before 1am on my birthday!

I had such an awesome night, and it makes me realise I need to go out with my girls more often!!

The Husband was not impressed that I booked a dinner with the girls on my birthday but I figured that since he was going to the tennis, he would be in no shape to take me out, and I was definitely not wrong. I want to go and get fish and chips tonight though, so might force him to drive me to the beach for a romantic dinner with the seagulls!

Bloody hell this was a longer post than expected, especially because I am suffering from a champagne head ache whilst writing it. Typing it, whatever. You know what I mean.

Daylesford Get Away

Sure, this post is 3 weeks after the fact but a late blog post is better than no blog post.. or at least I keep telling my self that.

We went to Daylesford between Christmas and New Years Eve for a little bit of relaxation and to spend some alone time together.

Someone had suggested that we eat at Frangos & Frangos but I am really not too sure why as I did not enjoy the food at all.

We arrived for our 8pm booking, had to ask twice for drinks, ordered immediately and it took 37 minutes for our entrees to come (yes, I noted the time) and then 45 minutes between entree and main which is too long a wait if you ask me.

For entree we had Pan braised bay calamari with capers, lemon and parsley ($16) which was more 'would you like calamari with your capers' style.

Tomato cannelloni filled with spinach and ricotta

with tomato water beurre blanc and tomato chips ($28).

This was okay, but nothing more.

Crushed and fried chat potatoes with rosemary and garlic ($9)

I pretty much ate these potatoes for my dinner.

Grilled lamb back-strap with du puy lentils,

fried spiced eggplant and pickled fennel salad ($38)

For accommodation we stayed at Jolee Accommodation which is about a 2 minute drive from the main street. It is pretty basic, but very cute.

During the first night stay, we woke up to very loud consistent banging on the front door, but I was half asleep so went back to sleeping peacefully as The Husband debated whether or not to get up, arm himself with a knife and check it out. He stayed in bed, and the banging ceased.

I have seen one too many horror movies.

On the second day we came home and the flyscreen was off the bedroom window. Nothing was missing so I can only assume it fell off, but still strange.

There were two other bedrooms in the cottage but both doors were locked, perhaps housing a monster??

My favorite part of the cottage was definitely the tub on the decking which over looked the bush. It was amazing being out there during the freezing cold night and just over looking darkness.

Ahh yeah, just living the life.

I saw this cute little dress and I really regret not buying it now, it is so adorable!!

Back to the Lavender Farm...

On our final day we went to see a Tarot Reader at my request. I am a total believer, but don't take what they say to heart - if that makes any sense.

She said that my aura is Purple (Almost Famous, anybody?) and that The Husbands is both Olive Green & Burnt Orange which sounds a lot like brown to me. She also said that we would have two children, a girl first who will be a Virgo and a son who will be a Leo and they will be born two years apart and either during or after the son is born we will be either taking an extended holiday or relocating overseas. Ha, well - time will tell.

My lucky number is apparently 4.

After the tarot, we went to Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa where we spent the day in salt pools, mineral water spas and enjoying a good pampering session.

I also bought up big at a home wares store which had massive discounts, and one day we will hopefully have a house big enough to unpack them!!

I've been blogging about 4 times per week lately, do you think that is a good amount or should I blog more or less?

I ordered this MissoniBracelet online from the Net-A-Porter sale last week and when it arrived today I wasdevo. It’s way too big. There is no way I can wear it.

My wrist is 15cm and its measurements are: Circumference7" / 19cm and Width of Band 1" / 2cm. It just falls off my darn smallwrist.

On Saturday we went to Liz's house for a visit and to say goodbye to Jo & Trev who are leaving Melbourne.

Geefa was there and told me that he had my birthday present, and would give it to me now as he would be in Adelaide for the Tour Down Under on my actual birthday (Sat 21) and went to the car and came back carrying an orange Hermes bag.

I squealed Yipppeeee and he quickly said "It's just a bill in an orange bag HAHAHAHAHAHA" and cracked himself up, but low and behold, there was no bill!

On Friday (yep, these posts are backwards) The Husband messaged me and said "Let's go shopping, I need to blow some cash" to which I replied "You have come to the right woman".

People think I have a shopping problem, well, he is bad. It's like he forgets just how many shirts and ties he has because they do not all fit in his wardrobe so are in baskets, bags, hanging devices and whatnot. I need to get one of the rack things and make sure that they are on display all of the time. I need to go through my drawers also and get rid of everything that I have not worn in the past year. I always buy gorgeous lingerie but in real life, it is not appropriate as ruffles, bows etc. don't exactly lend to good silhouettes now do they?

Anyway, I feel like they pump some form of noxious gas into the Mens wear section at Myer and David Jones as I always get so drained when I am in there.

Funnily enough, this doesn't happen in the womens wear sections...

We watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and loved it. There are some very unsettling scenes in the movie however but if you have read the books you already know this.

I didn't love the movie like I loved the book, but I never do. A book is always better than the movie version as you can paint the picture how you want. Lisbeth was incredibly convincing. I have not seen the original movie though.

You know those terrible My Family stickers (and I just know that I am offending 10092220028 people with that remark)? Well, Geefa has one on his car that he is quite proud of, but it doesn't really feature his family does it..

I spent Sunday taking down my Christmas Tree, at the park reading The Girls Guide to Homelessness and then Sunday night reading Water for Elephants in bed.

I painted my nails with China Glaze Shocking Pink (Neon) and it took 4 coats to dissolve the streakiness, and it started to chip 4 hours after application. Sure, the colour looks awesome but with 4 coats needed it is a pain in the ass.

Whilst shopping I also picked up a Marcs dress on sale and Chanel Inimatable Intense Mascara in Noir. This stuff is AMAZING!!! I am loving it. Why have I been using a crap, dry and clumpy mascara for so long?!

I would love to know what your favourite mascara is. I need to create a massive list of cosmetics for The Husband to buy when he goes to America in March.

I also want to know what the yummiest restaurant in Melbourne that you have eaten at is as I need to find somewhere to go for my Birthday Dinner with Husbo and so far the Pancake Parlour is looking good.

China Glaze Thunderbird

My latest polish has been China Glaze Thunderbird which I like more than I thought I would. When I first received my polishes, I painted one nail per colour and didn't love it but after seeing the full effect, I am a big fan.

My only issue is that after 3 days wear it has chipped quite a bit. Shame.

I would love to know how everyone stores their polishes, should I get an acrylic stand thing? I don't have THAT many polishes though. At the moment some live in a vase and the others live in a shoe box, hidden deep inside my wardrobe. You could get lost in that disaster.

One thing about this colour is that it has a lot of shine, which surprised me. It is also kind of shimmery.

Working Out & Stuff

You know what is embarrassing? When your gym phone you to see if you are still alive, as you haven’t been in for so long and you have to tell them that yes, you are alive – just lazy and lacking in motivation.

I thought that a fitness dedicated post might help me, but who am I trying to kid, if you want to work out, you do it.

I don’t know about you, but I find that when I have cute gym clothes on, I feel better.

I know that some people say that is ridiculous and who cares what you wear when you go to the gym, but I stand by that.

Now, please do not take my poor techniques as good techniques. I would hate to be the cause of someone injuring themselves after looking at my photos. These photos were taken in a hurry as The Husband was not willing to take more, so they will have to do.

I don’t get a shot to have multiple photos taken, he takes one and that is the one that will be used. Please. I need a new photographer! Anyone willing? You will have to shadow me and drop what you are doing at a moments notice when I whine "Quick. Take a photo of me". You can also not eat your meal unless I have taken a photo of it AND you will have to brave the elements to take outfit posts on our balcony. I love Tricep Dips, but would not usually be doing them on something so high. This is not good for me.

I finally got new runners and my ankles are much more supported now. Hoorah.

I got these Asics after Boxing Day and was sad to find out that they were still $150. Damn. I wanted a bargain.

Look, I’m pretending to run on the spot. You cant really tell so you will have to take my word for it.

Picture me, saying “Okay, now take action shots” and The Husband just shaking his head sadly at me, like I am a lunatic. Whilst he might not be the most willing photographer, at least his angles always make me look thinner than I am. Take that, thighs!!

The top that I am wearing in these photos is from Urbane Active and I got it from Myer for $20 on sale, bargain.

I love this Lorna Jane Kara Crop, but if I was going to do anything more than walk, I would also be wearing one of my Berlei sports bras under it. I just don't feel supported in these, and they say that they are for Medium Impact Activites. Not for me, no sir-ee. I think they are super cute to prance around in, but if I am going to be running I need my breasticles strapped in tight.

A cute back is needed. I'm talking about the crop top back, not my back which is sloppy.

Okay, maybe this isnt the Kara crop now that I compare backs. I don't know what this is. Sorry.

I hope my hair doesnt always look like this from behind. My bad. Time to buy a mirror.

If I am going to buy leggings for the gym, they must, and I repeat, MUST, have a fold over top. If you have a muffin top like myself, you know that these are the most flattering style. I love them.

Does anyone else still have a belly button ring hole? I took it out like 10 years ago.

These are also from Lorna Jane but I don’t know the style name, sorry. They have like a mesh fold over if that helps.

I prefer to wear fitted clothing rather than baggy clothing as I feel like having a shape makes me look better. If that makes sense.

This wooden deck freaking hurt when trying to execute my Side Plank and failing miserably.

Anyway, the moral of this post is that when wearing cute gym stuff, I feel better about my self. My hour long walk the other night consisted of walking along Beach Road and talking to my sister Cat in Ireland. That’s the best kind of exercise on a nice night.

I am getting my motivation back, thankfully and am going to get back on the right track of eating clean and exercising. I feel so much better when I am in shape, and the diminishing of cellulite doesn’t hurt either.

Last night I was going through boxes that I have not seen in 5+ years, and came across so many photos and love letters etc from my past. I love reading that stuff. One thing that I came across was a book that my girlfriends and I would write in when we were in year 7, and pass it around to the next girl, rather than sending letters. The things we wrote about cracked me up so bad that I nearly wet my pants. I cant believe what we were saying, and our lingo at the time was TERRIBLE. Makes me shudder.

This photo was taken at my Dads house in Dingley, and I was on mIRC. Who else had mIRC? I was an internet junkie. Could stay on it day in, day out.

I had my hair pink in between the Grade 6 and Year 7 holidays and then when it came time to go to school, there had been a disagreement between my parents as I was enrolled in two schools (John Paul College and Toorak College) and I ended up missing the first 1 or 2 weeks of school. I ended up at John Paul as that’s where my friends went, and I still remember spending 3 hours in a hair salon and Geefa forking out $350 to strip the colour from my hair.

I changed from John Paul to Toorak in year 9 and I am really glad that I did.

China Glaze - Something Sweet

I haven’t had shellac for a few weeks so am enjoying trying out all of my new nail polishes that I received from The Glossery. I'm slowly chipping (geddit?) through the stash.

I love this colour ‘Something Sweet’ but I find that pastels are a biatch to work with.

Then again, a bad tradesman always blames his tools.

I took this photo (indoors, at night, with flash) 10 minutes after application so I hadn’t had a shower to wash the polish off my cuticles.

Sharing The Love

I hope you guys know by now, but I am all about sharing the love. The love for a good bargain that is.

After finding my wedges on sale, I asked around on my Twitter to see if it would be weird of me to buy back ups of my Windsor Smith Karri Wedges. The feedback was 100% ‘No not weird, smart”. I agreed, obviously.

I found my wedges on Windsor Smith for $48 and signed up to be a member and got free shipping. Hell yes. I cant remember if I mentioned that I returned my black wedges to Myer, so am glad that I now have them again.

For sizing reference, I usually wear a size 6 or 6.5 but in these I have to wear a 7.

Lavandula Lavender Farm

Whilst in Daylesford after Christmas, we were out getting a coffee and decided to drive a little further down the road when I saw a sign about a Lavender Farm. I screamed out “LEFT, GO LEFT!!!”, nearly killing us in the process as The Husband quickly maneuvered left, not knowing what I was screaming about and possibly thinking that this screaming was about something important...

After I explained to him that there was a Lavender farm, and demanded to see it, we drove about 1km down the road, didn’t see anything and turned back. When we passed the sign again I whined ‘but I loveeeee lavender!!!” and The Husband turned the car around once again with a sigh and rolling his eyes, and we went a little further and discovered a sign saying it was 5km away. Hurrah, it did exist!!

And exist it did…. I cant believe I had never even heard about it! Where have I been? Had I have booked the little getaway I probably would have stumbled across it in my travels but I had nothing to do with booking it so it was a pleasant surprise.

When we pulled up we saw how busy the car park was and were further intrigued.
What mystical things were living in this Lavender farm for so many people to be visiting!
For $3.50 per adult, you are permitted into this beautiful Lavender Farm, but watch the damn bees, they are everywhere!!

All of these photos were taken on my still broken iPhone but on my camera there is a photo of me near the Geese looking scared shitless. I remember my namesake auntie had geese when I was about 5 and they are not the kind of animal that like to be patted, believe me. I found out the hard way. Vicious little things.

Usually I like to wear clothes that are in the same theme as where we are going, so I would have picked a cute summer dress but as we were just ducking out for coffee I had on my Target dress which has completely lost its shape. I didn’t even have make up on so sorry if I break your monitors!! I take no responsibility.

I'm not going to lie to you though, this was hell for The Husband who has terrible hay fever. Poor guy.

The gift shop was even worse as the lavender scent is so over powering.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the Lavender Champagne though, to me it was a tad chalky. The ice cream was great though.

More on our little Daylesford get away to come. As soon as my Internet stops being so painful.

The café there has everything infused with Lavender, so whilst I was snaring us a great table under a tree offering lots of shade, The Husband ventured into the café on his own to order, which usually means we will have way too much food, and he had ordered the ice cream, champagne, scones and an avocado and chicken grilled sandwich.
My stomach is going insane just thinking abouttttttttttttttt – oh sorry, I accidentally pressed the T button down whilst mopping up my saliva from the keyboard.

We had a really sweet time just wandering around, taking in the beautiful scenery. It was such a calm and chilled day for us after the hustle of Christmas. Who would have thought that Lavender would have such an effect?

OPI Rainbow Connection

I normally stick to pretty safe nail polish colours, like soft pinks. I’ve been living life completely crazy lately though and mixing up the colours. I have even sported a blue polish recently, after receiving an order from The Glossery which contained colors’ that I would not normally wear.

Whilst in David Jones yesterday I picked up OPI Rainbow Connection (I think it was $20) and also some of the Rapi Dry Top Coat.

This was my first time using a thick glitter polish, as I have only used China Glaze Fairy Dust in the past which is super fine, just like its name. I didn’t really know how to apply it and tried to apply like you would any other polish. I soon realized that you actually have to dab the glitter on, rather than brush it on otherwise you get bald patches.

One Coat

At this point I was thinking ‘What the hell? How many coats am I going to need?’ but soon woke up to myself.

I decided to stop at 3 coats which because of my method meant that I still had bald patches, but next time I will know how to do it properly.

The Husband looked at it and said “Well…. That is just too bizarre!” but I quite like my Robot Fingers.

The removal is hard. Really hard. I ended up having to use the shellac removal system and soak a cotton bud in remover with acetone, and then wrap it and foil around my finger nail, wait for 10 minutes. Ergh.
I always thought that chunky glitter polishes would feel extremely textured, but they really don’t. I guess putting a top coat over it helps though as I have it on my toes over China Glaze Something Sweet but without a top coat and it is much rougher. Is rougher even a word?

That reminds me, one glitter square was hanging over the edge of my nail and I didn’t realize. When my nails were dry, that little bastard cut me when I was itching my neck. Who woulda thunk it? So the moral of this story is to make sure you don’t have any hanging over the edge.

Also, today is the Orthodox Christmas! Merry Christmas!! We went to church last night, and will be celebrating with a nice lunch today.

I don’t know about you, but bloody hell I find NYE overrated.

Last year we were at an event at the AMC Theatre in New York City so that was obviously awesome, but I cant even remember what I did the last couple of years.

This year we went to Liz’s house with Jo & Trev for a Dinner Party, which is far better than going out and getting drunk and vomiting your way through the count down.. not that I speak from personal experience of course!!

It was frigging hot and I had nothing to wear so I popped down to Sportsgirl at Southland, basked in the air conditioned coolness for a while, and bought the Olympia Curve Hem Maxi, 2 cuffs and a pair of earrings. This post is not sponsored by Sportsgirl but it might as well be!!

I never find anything that I like/love in Sportsgirl as I find it too boho and on trend for my likings, but I was pretty pleased with my finds, especially as the cuffs were only $6 each!!

How gorgeous are the place settings? Job well done, Liz!

We roped Henry in for a faux family portrait. He looks pretty concerned.

For entrée we had Lobster Bisque which was so frigging amazing. Just delicious. I keep thinking about it!!!

I achieved my awesome curlyness by going in the pool and letting it dry naturally. That’s all I have for you. After I was my hair and let it dry naturally it is pretty insane though, but I still like it.

As you can see, my dirty white havianas were worn for the occasion. If The Husband can wear his Lakers jersey, I can wear my thongs.

I didn’t make a New Years Resolution this year as I don’t believe in them and often think that they set people up to fail. I don't really have anything that I want to change either.

Instead, I’m going to live life to the fullest and just enjoy it.

The Little Drummer Boy

Howdy. Now, this post is obviously bordering on the very belated side but what can you do? We are house-sitting at the moment and the house doesn’t pick up our internet connection very well so it took me 2 hours to load the included photos. There would have been more but I had the urge to drown the laptop and would have carried through had I tried to blog any longer.

The Christmas festivities started on Christmas Eve which was spent at Barbaras house (my photos are not in order so the photos where I have a white dress and red belt are from Christmas Eve and the Blue & White Stripe Dress is from Christmas Day) and then kicked on to lunch at Dads house on the 25th and dinner at our house (fear not, I did not cook) with my Mums side of the family. Needless to say, the person who holds the dinner always gets shafted as we are so full from the lunch that its hard to digest any more food.

This is the table at Dads house, which looked magnificent. My table looked crap so I wont even bother sharing it with you.

These Doves are from Ikea and are now hanging on our front door.

The place cards contained little red lollies which I feel like are Jaffas but you just never know.

I have a feeling that this tree was the ‘special’ tree at the Christmas Tree Farm. I can just tell that it got picked on for having no curves, not that I’ve ever experienced such a thing. It's always the tall and lanky kids.

I picked up this flower headband on Friday before my cut (I think it was from Ojay) incase I really hated my hair and thought that this would take away the attention from it, but now I realize that it would have drawn the attention in! Doesn’t matter though as I love my hair!!

I don’t normally drink soft drink (unless accompanied by vodka of course) but these little coke cans are too cute.

Sophia!!!! This kid is amazing.

I wore my old faithful dress from Forever New and whilst The Husband was taking this photo of me my mum walked in and then 5 minutes later asked me ‘Do you have anything to tell me??’ as in ‘You look FAT – Are you pregnant?’. Sheesh. Cannot even eat a big lunch these days.

I was really excited when I heard that there was so much hail in Melbourne that it was looking like snow, our car was underground so it didn’t bother me, but we didn’t get the hail!! Damn it. It’s terrible how much damage it did to cars and what not though.

My brother Lucas got out in the pouring rain to BBQ the Garlic Mushrooms for us, what a hero (and not in the Muzza way).

Yes, she is quite special isn’t she. She said the glass tasted like chocolate cake. It wasn’t just one lick here or there either, it was full on pashing the glass.

Just incase I needed some bags to carry my truckload of presents (which didn’t exist) home, I had them right under my eyes for convenience.

I want one of these!!! It does remind me of a cheery KKK costume though.

Hair cut twins!! Ashleigh-Rose said that she preferred my hair long though, as I look too different. Well, too late sunshine. I’ve been calling everyone sunshine lately.

As far as presents go, I got a trip to Daylesford from el husbo (post to come), cash, framed photos of my nieces and a basil plant. I hope everyone got exactly what they asked Santa for!

My New HAIR!

Y'all can be proud of me. I didn't back out of my hair appointment! I started the day with two lattes, both with 3 sugars each which was perhaps not a smart move for someone who usually only drinks one coffee per month, and it is a weak one.

I was flat chat busy at work today and the coffee just made me highly irritable. After a quick Christmas lunch at work, I headed out shopping with el Husband.

We headed to Laurent for a sly 'calm my nerves' donut and apple juice before I slinked into Miss Fox, anxious and full of nerves.

Waiting for me in Miss Fox was this cute little Champagne, just the thing I needed to calm my nerves, especially after Luna came at me with the clippers and I freaked out!! It took Victoria and Luna trying to decipher what exactly it was that I wanted, and Erin being a hair model, for me to get my ass back in that seat. I'm not going to sugar coat it, I was sweating.

Luna used the razor/clipper things to get a precise cut and we started off at about nipple length, then shoulder, then collar bone and then on to the final cut. We took it slow. Smart.

After reaching the perfect length and style, Luna put some texture into it with some layers, thinning and a little side fringe.

I thought that I would be crying, but I absolutely love my new hair do!!!

I feel so light and fresh. So fresh and soooo clean, ha.

When I stood up after my cut, my hair was stuck to my bum, all over my skirt. I guess because I was sweating at the start? I looked like I had Werewolf Bum.

Hunch Back. Sorry Mum.

When I got home I made The Husband close his eyes and then he was scared to open them! He appears to like it, but you never really know with men, do you? He did remark that I am like a completely different new wife, go him.

Now, how to maintain the luscious volume and smoothness? Keratin is next on the program.

Thoughts on my new hair?? I feel like I look so youthful!! Maybe I will start to get carded again. One can only hope.

I'm cutting my hair.... and Freaking The Hell Out!!!

If you know me, or have read my blog for donkeys years you will know that I always bang on about want to cut my hair into a long bob. I’ve been saying this for years.

When I started dating S, he told me how much he loved my long hair and how feminine it was. Every few months I would say, I’m going to cut my hair off and he would put his foot down and demand that I kept it long.

3 weeks ago we were both in the bathroom getting ready and I said “I’m going to cut my hair” to which he looked at me, was silent for a moment and then said “Yeah, okay. Do it” so I made the appointment and now that it is tomorrow I am kind of freaking the phuck out.

I think that I tend to hide behind my hair, if that makes any sense. When I am nervous/sad/bored I tend to pick at it (probably why it is in such bad condition actually) to avoid having to look at people. This drives people insane I have found.

I have also realized that if I feel self conscious in an outfit, I use my hair to hide an open back or a revealing front to make myself feel more covered and it tends to help.

Just writing this post has left me feeling sick in my stomach. I haven’t had short hair since grade 6 I don’t think.

I’m hoping that if I take these photos to the salon, it will come out looking similar. If I want to wear it curly, I want it to look like these (one can only dream):

So what are your tips for not freaking out and having a melt down in the salon chair tomorrow? I know that it is just hair and that it will grow back, but still!!!!

Christmas Decorations.

Last night was a long and treacherous one which included double sided tape and blunt scissors. I was cutting out all these damn Christmas Tree Place cards for Christmas Dinner when not only was I covered in sticky tape but I also managed to cut my nail, a day before my manicure. Such a nong sometimes. Actually, always.

During my Big W expedition to buy a few extra toys for my nephews and nieces, my bag full of other Christmassy goodies broke whilst I was waiting for the check out and my arms were full of toys so I couldn’t even bend down to pick all my crap up. I nearly burst into tears as I was starving, needed to pee and my arms and shoulders were killing from carrying so much stuff. It took a few minutes of me attempting to put the toys somewhere and trying to bend down without dropping even more stuff before the guy behind me took pity on me. Seriously, a line of 10000000 people and it took a few minutes.

I must have looked amusing struggling so bad that people didn’t want to stop the entertainment. I don’t know about you, but if I see someone drop something and their hands are full I always help them out!! I walked home very slowly with my ginormous shopping bags and S asked “Did you really carry all that” and to which I replied that Christmas should be cancelled!!!

I also started to wrap presents and stick labels on them, but forgot to buy the string stuff that I was intending on using so might do that today or tomorrow if I have the time.

In other news, my niece Sophia is over from America for Christmas and I could not be more excited to see her!!! The Husband and I are headed away for a few nights after Christmas, cannot wait.

I didn’t buy Ashleigh-Rose a birthday present a few months back because she was in Europe so I took her to Doncaster on the weekend looking for a present. It was definitely a labor of love. She wanted Barbie’s and then decided she didn’t play with Barbie anymore, then she wanted a real puppy and I said no, then she wanted a toy which was $200 (for a toy!!!!) and I said no as Christmas was close blah blah blah. Anyway, we ended up Build A Bear, which is like Hell.

I asked the staff member how she does this all day and her answer was simple “I overdose on sugar every day” haha. Ashleigh-Rose picked out her bear and dressed it in a fishermans outfit which was actually not very cute ha. I decided to get S a little present and I got him a bear and dressed it in a NBA uniform, as he is obsessed with NBA. Pity it wasn’t purple and yellow but the Knicks are good enough. When I got home and gave it to him he actually did love it, but perhaps he is just a fantastic actor. I bought all of his Christmas presents online and only 2 have come, and they are tiny so it’s going to be a sad Christmas for him, unless they come before the 7 January which is his actual Christmas, then he wont be so sad.

My Hair is Not So Gross now.

The last couple of months have really had me scratching my head (no pun intended) at what I was doing so wrong when washing my hair. I would literally spend 5 minutes making sure that I had scrubbed all of the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair, but no matter what, the roots on the left hand side of my hair were totally oily when I would be blow drying my hair. I tried letting it dry naturally, but you could still fry and egg on that hot mess.

I thought that the Pure Fiji shampoo and conditioner ($9 each) was doing great things for me, but it really wasn't. Perhaps because I had been using it in Fiji where I had also been swimming every day, my hair was rinsed out already. Maybe I was blinded by smelling like a delicious coconut.

Then I tried John Frieda Brilliant Brunette ($17.27 each) and I had the same issues. I decided it was just a problem that I would have to deal with. Ergh.

After going to the salon on Friday to have my hair blow dried, the hairdresser asked what hair products I use and I told her that apart from rarely using hairspray, it was only the shampoo and conditioner. She told me that I had a terrible build up of product close to my scalp on the sides of my head and that's why it has been feeling so gross. Despite me scrubbing and rinsing, my shampoo and conditioners were just not cleansing enough so she recommended that I give these Kerastase products a try.

I was hesitant due to the price $47 and $38 respectively, but knew that I had to try something so I bought them and gave them a whirl last night.

Okay guys. This is the shit.

It doesn't smell pretty, but I guess it doesn't need to. I used the shampoo twice and conditioner once, and my hair is freaking brilliant today. ZERO product build up and it feels so light and soft. It will actually be a shame to cut it all off this Friday now.

I wish someone had suggested these products to me earlier!!! Has anyone else used them due to having the same issues as myself???

Can't believe I suffered through grossness for so damn long.

I was lucky enough to receive this Circa candle in Lilac & Orchid from my office K.K - love the scent and the matches kill me! There are so massive and awesome. Impressed.

I've also been on a slight Glasshouse candle spree...

Tahaa smells just like caramel and makes me salivate every time it is burning. I think it is aiding to my weight gain from eating all things caramel. Ha.

This was me before I had my lady mo' waxed on Thursday. It was getting a tad out of control.
