For reference, I have acne prone skin, sometimes excessively oily, sometimes dry, always annoying.
I've been using the Dove Beauty Cream Bar for about 3 months now, and my skin is looking the best that it has looked since I came off Roaccutane!!
I still get pimples, but nowhere near as many and definitely not as red and angry.
It's freaking drying, but that is why it works for me!
I use the Dove soap morning and night with my Chux microfiber cloth.
At night I follow with a mix of water and Epsom salt, and in the morning I use the Cosmedix Reflect and Mystic sprays for a combination of hydration and sunscreen.
Anyway, enough yabbering on, watch the video!
Products mentioned in the video:
Dove Beauty Cream Bar
Epsom Salt
Rexona Clinical Protection Deodorant
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Cosmedix Reflect
Cosmedix Mystic
Smart Skin Wipes
I almost didn't upload this video as I am still recovering from the flu and a minor chest infection which causes me to be short of breath, I sound like I just ran a freaking marathon in this!! Try and look past this.
Should I do a video post on my favorite make up items?
It's definitely better to do videos on the weekend during the day when I have natural light, rather than at 9:30PM like this one!

"just your hormones blah blah blah!" hahaha I love it!
ReplyDeleteHahahahhaa thanks :P
DeleteThanks so much for this Mez...I suffer from acne too and nothing seems to be helping - I will definitely be trying this!
ReplyDeleteHave you been on medication for it? I always knew that I would need a second course of accutane but cant take it. Wahhh.
DeleteThis is helping a lot though, I am thrilled!
You don't sound out of breath, don't know what you were worried about!
ReplyDeleteGreat outline of the products you use :-)
My own worst critic I suppose!
DeleteThanks :)
Super helpful Mez! I'd never thought to try the dove soap on my face, im pretty sure i have some lingering around! Totally going to try it, just what i need, something to strip the oil! Whoop! :) x
ReplyDeleteIt is really drying so beware!
DeleteYes i think you should do a video on your fave make up products. :)
ReplyDeleteand yo udont sound out of breath lol.
I'll get on to a make up post now!
DeleteGreat video!
ReplyDeleteThe only deodorant I find that works for me as I always get hot flushes and feel sweaty and gross is Garnier Mineral! (48hr dry I think it is? They're all great though! And not white marks!)
You can get it at the supermarket. It's not on the cheaper side of deodorants but soooo worth it! x :)
I might try that garner one when mine runs out, thanks for the rec!
DeleteI would love to see a video on your favourite make up items. Your make up always looks great!
ReplyDeleteWow thanks! I always think I'm terrible at application!
DeleteReject shop - 4 for $4... I would have bought them out of it :)
ReplyDeleteThey had plenty of stock! So cheap!
DeleteYes yes yes! Can't wait to see your make-up video blog! x
ReplyDeleteGreat!
DeletePs- Just don't demonstrate drunken make-up application, a la Jenna Marbles!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who she is so I better start googling!

DeleteLook out! :)
I have the same problem with my skin...and I worked as a beauty therapist!! It can effect anyone...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love your lipstick, uber cute!
Damn skin!
DeleteI remember recommending th neutrogena eye makeup remover to you ages ago, always wondered if you liked it- so glad you do!
ReplyDeleteI do like it! Thank you so much!
DeleteLove the video! You certainly didn't sound like The Nanny! Very clever idea to do the bargain buy products as well. Would love to see something on your makeup favourites too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll try and have my make up post up by next week!
DeleteAah, you're so cute.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like we have very similar skin - I've been on Roaccutane too and started back with the breakouts and crazy oil a few months after coming off it. I only did a half course though - I was having some rather disturbing side effects. I've been on all different types of hormonal birth control for ten years now, since I was 17, and I think that's just done a royal number on my system.
I've started using Tea Tree cleanser, Witch Hazel as toner and rose hip oil as moisturiser, which scared the bajeezus out of me at first because of the whole oil thing, but as long as I use it sparingly it seems to calm down my natural oil production. I haven't been brave enough to try oil cleansing yet. That moisturising spray sounds like a great idea - I might get some for summer.
Ah well, on the bright side at least we won't wrinkle easily. Too much grease to plump that skin out. :-P
I love witch hazel!
DeleteSorry to hear that roaccutane didn't work for you, I hope your side effects were quick to go xx
Product name dropping much? You have become to commercial. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a sponsored post, nor were any products supplied to me.
DeleteThese are the products that I use and buy with my own money so BLEH to you too little negative nancy.
Would you prefer I never mention any brands and just blog blank pages?
It's quite easy 'anonymous' - stop reading.
DeleteI really hate you trolls...
This isn't a sponsored post, nor were any products supplied to me.
ReplyDeleteThese are the products that I use, and buy with my own money so bleh to you too!
Good girl :-)
DeleteI made that video full screen on my PC and it felt like I was in the room just chatting with my adorable little sister - you made my day! I love that your video's are still so YOU - for instance the "sorry I've got the hiccups giggle" and "I dont wash my hair, maybe you do.." comments make me laugh and I know that you are just being you!Love you and miss you.
ReplyDeleteP.S Is it me or is $12 expensive for deodorant? Maybe I have been living with the Euro too long to remember what is normal in the Aussie Dollar!
I love this video! Who doesn't love a good bargain beauty product? :) Thanks for the tip about the Dove soap. I've had so many breakouts lately.
ReplyDeleteGreat video. Hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYes to more beauty and makeup reviews!
I'm keen on those smart skin wipes from the supermarket as well, they are a bargain and I love mine too.
I have very different skin to you but I still loved your video.
You are a great speaker! I enjoyed your review. I sympathise with you about your skin. I've had acne since I was 13 and I'll be 30 this year! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like your vids ... Make more if you can :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the soap seems to have helped you too... Sometimes the most basic of products can have the best results. Horray!
Great video DD! Ignore those pathetic anon posters. Have you tried MooGoo? Their acne cream cleanser works for me.
ReplyDeleteHey, quick question, where can I buy that dry shampoo from, the one I have leaves my hair white lol and I hate it!!
ReplyDeleteI get it from Priceline
DeleteOh mez I feel your pimple pain! I have gone through various stages in my life when I have had terrible, terrible skin, blackheads, whiteheads and blinders! My biggest advice on this though is fourfold,
ReplyDelete1. yes it is hormones and has absolutely nothing to do with what you eat, unless those foods affect your hormones! ( i once had a beauty therapist tell me that because I ate yogurt it was coming out through my skin!!! WTF)
2. I must say that when I was really oily and had blocked up skin I religiously washed my hair every day and sometimes twice(esp.after exercising) I realised that the grease, sweat and oil crept down from my hair! I found this made a major, major difference to the skin on my face and back, even if I was only using water and conditioner for the second wash of the day. Please give this a try. It also makes you feel just so much 'cleaner'. I hope it makes a real difference for you too.
3. Use chemicals rather than mechanical (gritty) exfoliants. Plus As I have aged, vit c serums and glycolics have made a huge difference in the fine line dept. too.
4 don't pick at anything! unless it is a whitehead, then do it the way DR Oz describes to remove it.
Just remember that oily skin means fantasticly- no wrinkles later on!!!!! you just have to make sure that you don't get any scarring in between time.
